Our 2025 Group Charity Partner

February 17, 2025

We are very proud to announce Recycling Lives Charity as our official charity partner for 2025.

This partnership reflects our commitment to making a positive social impact by supporting causes that align with our values of innovation, diversity, and community growth.

Recycling Lives Charity is a unique UK-based charity that empowers individuals to achieve and sustain positive change through rehabilitation, housing, and food redistribution initiatives. With its three key focus areas—tackling homelessness, reducing food poverty, and rehabilitating offenders—the charity’s mission to "recycle lives" resonates deeply with our own commitment to building careers, futures, and business communities.

Our partnership with Recycling Lives Charity began in December 2024, when the Group supported the charity’s weekly soup kitchen, Supper’s Up initiative. With a £1,200 donation, BGI helped cover the cost of the soup kitchen and gift bags for those visiting.

Several BGI staff members volunteered their time to prepare and assist on the night, spreading joy to those in need during what can be an incredibly challenging time of year.

A Shared Vision for Social Impact

Building on this initial success, we have already made a £5,000 donation to Recycling Lives Charity for 2025 and have set an ambitious goal of raising an additional £10,000 by the end of the year.

As a group of businesses, BGI’s reach across the UK provides a unique opportunity to support the charity’s life-changing work in multiple ways, including:

  • Supporting employment initiatives by sharing recruitment expertise through mock interviews, CV workshops, and career guidance.
  • Volunteering and assisting in the redistribution of surplus food to communities in need.
  • Participating in the charity’s weekly soup kitchen, Suppers Up’s initiatives, this includes volunteering at the charity’s evening events, including the heartwarming Christmas Suppers Up, where hot meals are served to those in need.
  • Other fundraising activities, like fitness challenges, bake sales, and other events to engage employees and communities alike.

Katrina Walmsley, Deputy Residential Manager at Recycling Lives Charity, said: “BGI have stepped up their support for 2025 and we’re incredibly grateful. The monies they’ve donated and pledged will help us as we give people practical help, training opportunities, specialist mental health support, guidance with housing, and much more. And their in-person support will further strengthen our employment support offering.

“They already helped us to spread some joy to people over Christmas too, with a £1,200 donation that helped to cover costs and create gift bags for our soup kitchen in December.

“We get at least 100 people through the doors for Supper’s Up every Wednesday so all the support we get makes a real difference. Thank you to all the team at BGI.”

Making a Difference Across the UK

The charity partnership will allow our employees across the Group’s businesses—ranging from Smart Solutions and Heat Recruitment to Eden Rose and Bridgestone Group—to actively engage in supporting Recycling Lives Charity’s mission.

By leveraging the Group’s national presence and encouraging employees to use their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) days, we aim to drive significant contributions toward the charity’s efforts, whether that's through volunteering or innovative fundraising initiatives.

BGI’s Chairman, Rob Webb expressed enthusiasm about the partnership:
We are excited to collaborate with Recycling Lives Charity, supporting their impactful work in reducing homelessness, reoffending, and food poverty through stable housing, employment, and food redistribution with Fare Share. Together, we strive to create lasting social impact.”

Together with Recycling Lives Charity, BGI is excited to make 2025 a year of transformation and impact, supporting individuals and communities across the UK.
